Our Durgin Business Collection is made possible by the George V. Durgin Memorial Fund. Mr. Durgin, through his worldly travels and a wide range of employment, built a tremendous knowledge in business and finance. The Durgin Memorial Trust is intended to give others access to the tools to further their knowledge in business, finance, and investing.

George Varnum Durgin

April 5th, 1918 - March 20th, 2001

The Pease Public LIbrary Business Collection is made possible by the George V. Durgin Memorial Fund. George Durgin was born on the family farm in Campton, NH on April 5th, 1918. He graduated from Plymouth High School and started working in the family business until he left home at the age of 24 to enlist in the United States Army Air Force. George saw the world in his twenty plus years in the Air Force taking him to far-away places such as North Africa, Italy, Iceland, Japan, Okinawa, and Vietnam.

When George retired from the military at age 51 he went on to hold such varied positions as a Bank Teller at Plymouth Guaranty, Selectman of the Town of Campton, part time Deputy Sheriff of Grafton, Treasurer of the Grange Fair, and his last position traveling the United States working for the U.S. Census Bureau. Through his worldy travels and wide range of employment, George built quite an avid knowledge in business and finance.

George's Memorial Trust is intended to give others access to the tools to further their knowledge in business, finance, and investing.
